This privacy policy explains how parkeringsbot.no, operated by Desken AS, processes your personal data when you use the service.
DATA CONTROLLER
Desken AS is the data controller for the personal data collected through parkeringsbot.no.
Organisation number: 984 358 202
Business address: Bakgård Frognerveien 1B, 0257 Oslo, Norway
Email: kontakt@parkeringsbot.no
WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT
When you use the service to appeal a parking fine, we collect:
- Contact details: email address, telephone number and address.
- Information about the case: the vehicle's registration number, parking company, location, time, sanction amount and reason.
- A photo of the control sanction (the ticket) you upload, and any evidence photos and rejections you upload.
- A payment reference from Vipps when you pay for the service.
If you ask to be referred to a lawyer (via our lawyer page), we also collect the information you provide there, such as the type of case, amount, registration number, and any insurance company and policy number.
LEGAL BASIS AND PURPOSE
We process your information on the following bases:
- To perform the contract with you (General Data Protection Regulation Article 6(1)(b)): We process the information about your case, the documents you upload and your contact details in order to generate the appeal, deliver a copy to you and make the service available. This information is necessary to deliver the service — without it we cannot draft the appeal.
- To comply with a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)): We keep information relating to payments and transactions for as long as the Norwegian Bookkeeping Act requires, for up to five years, regardless of any request for deletion.
- On the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a)): If you ask to be referred to a lawyer, we process your information and pass it on to the legal partner on the basis of the consent you give in the form. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- On the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): We use evidence photos of signage, payment machines and markings as a basis for documenting the signage at the location and for improving the service, including to create our own illustrations using the photo as a reference. The photos are anonymised first — registration numbers, faces and other personal data are removed — and are never linked to your name or your case. We have assessed that this use does not intrude on your privacy, because the result cannot be traced back to you. You can object to this processing at any time; see the section on your rights.
STORAGE AND SECURITY
The information is stored in secure databases with our subcontractors (Supabase and Vercel) within the EU/EEA. We keep the case information and the uploaded photo of the ticket for up to one year after the appeal is created. The reason is that the deadline for appealing to the Parking Complaints Board is one year from when you appealed to the parking company — by keeping the documentation, you can easily escalate the case to the board if your appeal is rejected, without having to find and upload the ticket again. After one year, the photos are deleted automatically. You can ask for your information to be deleted earlier at any time. Anonymised material derived from evidence photos — for example illustrations of signage — contains no personal data and is therefore not covered by this deletion deadline. Payment information is nevertheless kept for as long as the Bookkeeping Act requires; see the section above.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to access, rectify and erase the information we hold about you. You also have the right to request restriction of processing in certain situations, and the right to data portability — that is, to receive the information you have given us in a common, machine-readable format. You can also withdraw any consent you have given. Because parts of our processing are based on legitimate interest, you also have the right to object to that processing (Article 21). If you object, we will stop the use unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests. To exercise your rights, contact us at kontakt@parkeringsbot.no. You also have the right to complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
To extract information from the ticket and the rejection you upload, and to generate the appeal text itself, we use the language model Claude, provided by Anthropic, via its application programming interface (API). The information is processed solely to generate your specific appeal. Anthropic does not use information sent via its API to train its models. Processing takes place at Anthropic Ireland, Limited. Where information is transferred to countries outside the EU/EEA for processing, this is done on the basis of the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, which ensure an adequate level of protection.
DATA PROCESSORS AND SHARING WITH OTHERS
You send the appeal on to the parking company or the Parking Complaints Board yourself from your own email — we do not send it on your behalf. We use subcontractors (data processors) such as Supabase, Vercel and Anthropic to operate the service, and have entered into data processing agreements with them ensuring that they only process the information according to our instructions. If you ask to be referred to a lawyer, we share your information with the legal partner on the basis of your consent. When you pay, Vipps acts as an independent data controller for the payment transaction itself; see Vipps' own privacy policy for how they process information. Beyond this, we do not share your information with third parties unless you have consented to it or we are legally obliged to do so.
COOKIES
For the website to work, we use necessary cookies. These cannot be switched off, and they do not store information that identifies you.
In addition, we use a tool for measuring visits (Google Analytics) to improve the service. These cookies are only set if you actively consent via the consent window shown the first time you visit the website. If you choose "Essential only" («Bare nødvendige» on the Norwegian site), no such cookies are set and no visit data is collected about you. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" («Informasjonskapsler» on the Norwegian site) at the bottom of the page.
CHANGES
We may update this policy. Material changes will be made available on the Norwegian version of this page.
